Pumping is a big part of your feeding journey, and a few simple strategies can make it more effective and less stressful.

Establish a Consistent Routine

  • Pump about every 2–3 hours in the early weeks to build supply.
  • Try to pump at the same times each day once your supply is established.
  • Add in a nighttime session when prolactin levels are highest, especially while establishing your supply.

Support Milk Let-Down

  • Relax before pumping—listening to music, looking at photos of your baby, or having your baby close by can help letdown.
  • Massage breasts gently and apply warm compresses to stimulate flow.
  • Pump on both sides to save time and increase stimulation.

Use Proper Equipment and Fit

  • Make sure your flanges are the correct size—a poor fit can cause pain and reduce milk flow. Find your flange size here.
  • Keep your replacement parts schedule in mind and replace accordingly to maintain suction. Compromised suction can lead to a dip in milk supply.
  • Consider hands-free collection cups (check out our cups compatible with the BabyBuddha 2.0!) to make multitasking easier.

Stay Comfortable and Hydrated

  • Pump in a comfortable, supportive space.
  • Stay hydrated and eat regularly—your body needs fuel to produce milk.
  • Wear a hands-free pumping bra for extra support.

Remember, every mom’s supply is different. Consistency, comfort, and the right equipment go a long way toward supporting your milk production.
