Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to rent a hospital bed?

Hospital bed rentals typically range from $150 to $350 per month, depending on the model and features you need. Adjustable electric beds and upgraded mattresses may cost more. Delivery and setup are available for a flat $150 fee, and our team ensures your equipment is ready to use when it arrives.

Is it cheaper to rent or buy a hospital bed?

Renting is often the best choice for short-term recovery or temporary care needs. If you expect to use the bed for a year or longer, purchasing may be more cost-effective. Our team can help you compare options so you choose what makes the most sense for your situation.

Do I need a prescription to rent a hospital bed?

You don’t need a prescription if you’re paying out of pocket. However, if you’d like to bill insurance or Medicare, a doctor’s prescription stating medical necessity is required. Our team can guide you through what’s needed to make the process simple.

Does insurance cover renting a hospital bed?

Insurance may cover a hospital bed rental when prescribed by a doctor and deemed medically necessary. However, Alpine Home Medical does not bill insurance for hospital bed packages. For items that qualify, you may choose to pay out of pocket or bill your insurance directly. If your insurance is contracted with Alpine, they will not reimburse you directly. Our team is always available to check your coverage and make the process as simple as possible.

Can I customize or upgrade my hospital bed rental?

Yes. You can choose from a variety of mattress types, side rails, and accessories to make your bed more comfortable and functional. Our team can walk you through available upgrades, including pressure-relief mattresses, overbed tables, and safety options.

What if I need to keep my hospital bed longer than expected?

No problem — your rental will automatically renew and charge the card on file until the equipment is returned. Simply let your local Alpine Home Medical team know when you’re finished, and we’ll schedule an easy pickup or help you transition to a purchase if you’d like to keep the equipment.
