Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to rent a patient lift?

Rental rates range from $30 to $100 per month, depending on the length of the rental and the type of lift needed. Our team will walk you through current pricing and help you find the most affordable option for your situation. Please note: patient lift rentals require a separate sling purchase.

Does Medicare or insurance cover Hoyer lift rentals?

Some insurance plans may cover a portion of the rental cost if your doctor prescribes it as medically necessary. Coverage varies, and documentation is required. Our team can check your benefits and guide you through the process to make it as simple as possible.

What are patient lifts used for?

Patient lifts are designed to help with safe transfers for individuals who cannot stand or walk on their own. They’re typically used for moving between a bed, wheelchair, toilet, or shower, or for repositioning in bed—helping reduce strain for both the user and caregiver.

What types of patient lifts are available for rent?

We rent manual hydraulic lifts that use a hand-operated pump to safely lift and lower patients. They’re durable, easy to use, and designed for home environments where powered lifts aren’t necessary.

Are there alternatives to a full-body lift?

Yes. If the individual has some leg strength, a sit-to-stand lift may be a good alternative. For smaller transfers, slide sheets or transfer boards can also help. However, for full-body support and the safest transfers, a manual Hoyer lift is typically best.

Do I need a prescription to rent a patient lift?

A prescription isn’t needed for cash-pay rentals, but is required for insurance-covered rentals. You can rent directly from Alpine Home Medical at any time, and our staff will ensure the lift is safely set up and ready for use.
