CPAP FAQ

Q: How often should I clean my PAP supplies?

A: Washing your mask/pillows, headgear, and tubing once daily is critical to maintaining healthy and effective PAP therapy. You can wash them by hand with warm, soapy water; if that is too inconvenient and time-consuming, you may want to consider an automatic PAP supply cleaner like the SoClean 2.

Q: How often should I replace my PAP supplies?

A: Even with proper daily care, you will need to replace most of your PAP supplies every 3-6 months (depending on the item). To learn how often each item should replaced, see the chart below:

Q: How much should I be using my PAP machine?

A: Using your PAP machine every night would be recommended and optimal. However, if you do plan on not using your machine every night, it is important to note that most insurances, including Medicare, require you to use it at least 7 out of every 10 nights for at least four hours per night to continue coverage. If you do not meet the minimum compliance requirements, you may risk losing your coverage and having to pay out-of-pocket for your PAP machine rental.
