Jay Broadbent | Chief Executive Officer
Jay Broadbent has excelled greatly in his 17 years as president of Alpine Home Medical Equipment. He started his career as a student attending BYU Idaho and later California State University, Sacramento, earning a degree in Business Finance. In 1994, just after graduation, Jay and his family moved to Utah—viewing the experience as “coming home”. Upon arrival, Jay began working for a local competitor as a rehab salesman, selling a range of power chairs and high end rehab. He enjoyed his work stating that he ‘loved the people and loved the community’. In 1997, with the help of two investors, named Jon Cannon and Bob Breinholt, Jay opened his own doors in Salt Lake under the name of Alpine Home Medical Equipment, with a primary focus on rehab—he also reached additional success in sales of bath aids and bent metal. The product line Alpine offers have since expanded to include everything DME. He continues to enjoy the people and community of the home medical equipment industry and is delighted seeing his business continually growing. Alpine Home Medical Equipment has expanded from 1 employee in 1997 to over 150 employees in 2013, six physical locations across Utah, and a new location that was acquired in Idaho Falls.
Scott Maughan | President
Currently serving as Chief Operating Officer for Alpine Home Medical, Scott Maughan has enjoyed a long and successful career in the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) industry. Scott started as a delivery driver while attending the University of Utah and, over the years, has been promoted to various positions of increasing responsibility including delivery and distribution, sales, managed care contracting, and his current role at Alpine. Scott began his career with Glasrock Home Health Care (1987), who was later acquired by Interwest Home Medical (1991), who was later acquired by Praxair Healthcare (2007), and left Praxair to join Alpine Home Medical in 2007.
He enjoys working in an industry that provides products and services that help improve lives, and has enjoyed Alpine’s commitment to giving back to its customers, employees, and community. He also enjoys spending time with family and enjoying a host of outdoor activities.
Scott graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in Behavioral Science and Health.
Dan Cloward | Chief Financial Officer
Dan Cloward has worked for Alpine Home Medical Equipment since 2010. Dan’s career as an accountant includes working with companies like Intermountain Healthcare and Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream. Before coming to Alpine, Dan was a partner in Cloward & Sorenson, LLC, an accounting and tax practice. Much of his work at Cloward & Sorenson was serving as an outsourced CFO, merger and acquisition consultant, and tax adviser to small businesses.
Dan graduated from Southern Utah University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a minor in Accounting. He received a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix.
Currently, Dan lives in Herriman, Utah, with his wife and three kids.
